Post-Secondary Education Scholarship from CUPE BC

CUPE policy supports a truly public post-secondary education system – one with no economic barriers to education. Until that happens, some CUPE locals have set up bursary programs for members and their children to help them attend a college or university.

CUPE BC offers the Aubrey Burton/Reg Ford Memorial Scholarship. (CUPE 23 offers the Ethel Lau Scholarship – more information here) Both awards are available to members or their children who are entering their first year of post-secondary education.

From the CUPE.ca website:

We are at a critical moment for equality and the labour movement. Though we’ve made important human rights gains over time, growing inequality, globalization, privatization and the rise of precarious work threaten the progress we’ve made.  CUPE must be a leader in advancing equality. Our efforts benefit everyone.

CUPE activists will gather to share ideas and develop strategies in areas where workers have power: bargaining, organizing, mobilizing and political action.
