Participate in CUPE’s Safe Union Spaces Survey
Earlier this year, CUPE’s National Executive Board created a National Safe Union Spaces Working Group to address serious concerns about gender-based violence and other forms of harassment and discrimination in our union.
The Working Group, advised by expert external consultants, has been reviewing CUPE’s existing tools and processes, identifying gaps where we need changes or additional resources to ensure safer union spaces.
As part of this important effort, the Working Group is launching a survey.
CUPE encourages all members to participate in this survey. The survey will help us identify actions we can take and policies we can adopt to make CUPE more welcoming for all members.
The survey closes September 28.
Connecting & Meeting on Zoom 🎥
For the foreseeable future the only way to hold meetings and conduct the business of the union is via video conferencing. So far we are doing Executive Board, Steward, and committee meetings via Zoom. We’ve done a successful test run of a membership meeting on Zoom and Bruce is running a weekly checkin for Q & A on Wednesdays at 6pm on Zoom.
Wondering how to get in on all of this? For security reasons, invitations to our Zoom meetings will only be sent out via our email list to members who’ve submitted their personal email addresses. Make sure we’ve got yours & get connected!
2020 Bargaining Survey
The 2020 Collective Bargaining Survey is now open.

Watch for Bargaining Committee members visiting worksites during the month of July to assist members in completing the survey. Some of the dates for worksite visits:
- City Hall BBQ – Wednesday, July 10th – 11:30am-1:30pm
- Metrotown Library – Wednesday July 10th – 4pm-6pm (Pizza)
- Edmonds/Tommy Douglas Library- Thursday, July 11th – 3pm-5pm Coffee break – Snacks
- Cameron Rec Centre & Library – Tuesday, July 16th – 12pm-2pm Coffee & Treats
- Eileen Daily/Confed Park/McGill Library BBQ – Thursday, July 18th – 12pm-2pm
- Still Creek Works Yard BBQ – Tuesday, July 30th – 11am-1pm
- Union Hall BBQ – Wednesday, July 31st – 11am-1pm
