CUPE 23 members, please join us on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Noon at the Memorial Fountain at the Burnaby Village Museum as we remember and honour those members of the Burnaby Civic Employees’ Union who served our country and gave their lives in the First World War. We will take the opportunity to recognize the service of all who came after them in other conflicts and missions around the world. We will gather and observe a minute of silence to acknowledge their sacrifices.
Below is a map of the area. Westminster Pier Park is on the Fraser River in New Westminster. Access from Begbie Street is via the parking lot adjacent to the Fraser River Discovery Centre. Elevator access is via the 4th Street parkade. The nearest Skytrain station is Columbia. We will be gathering in the plaza area in front of the concession building known as Lytton Square. The wreath laying procession at the conclusion of the event will be to WOW Westminster Public Art on Timber Wharf.
Please be aware of the ongoing construction on Front Street.
Let’s continue our support of CUPE 1816 members and protect our benefits.
All CUPE 23 members who are primary extended health benefits recipients are Pacific Blue Cross members. Please come out and help shift the direction of our benefits provider back to respecting workers and benefit recipients.
Location of the meeting is the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver – There will be shuttle buses running continuously from Waterfront Skytrain Station to the Westin Bayshore Hotel from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will also be other buses provided from locations around the Lower Mainland.
